A Novel Pizel Repairing Method to Reduce the Oblique Light Leakage

When the bright dot defect occurs in a normally white (NW) TN-LCD, conventionally, we will isolate the pixel electrode of the defective dot and electrically connect to a gate line nearby through laser wielding to make it as a dark dot. However, it makes an excess electric potential across the LC layer, which is much larger than the applied voltage on normal dark state (L0) pixels. This larger electric potential usually induces excess LC alignment angle and hence the extra retardation, and caused the oblique light leakage at L0. This paper presents a novel pixel repair method to reduce this oblique light leakage phenomena without bring any other side effects.
