An Investigation into the Effect that Personal Traits of Entrepreneurs Have on the Identification Entrepreneurial Opportunity
Entrepreneurship research has both academic and practical significance. This article analyzes the influence of entrepreneur personalities over the recognition of entrepreneurial opportunity based on PSED II data about American nascent entrepreneurs. Trying to demonstrate that entrepreneurs with different personalities will identify the entrepreneurial opportunity through different ways, the article abstracts three personality dimensions including innovative orientation, locus of control and ambiguity tolerance, and divides each dimension into high score group and low score group on the basis of its average score. Empirical analysis shows that the impact of American entrepreneur personalities on the recognition of entrepreneurial opportunity is almost negligible.
