The evaluation of the geothermal water in Henan Depression
In order to study the flow characteristics, the exploitable volume and forecast the flow field and groundwater hydraulic head changes of Henan depression, the study area was subdivided into four plane areas and three layers in the vertical plane, the warm, warmer and hot water layer. A developed geological model of the study area was established, and the numerical simulation was carried out using the Visual Modflow. The results show that the exploitable volume is far more than the exploited volume in each subarea of each geothermal formation, so the sharp decrease of hydraulic head of Zhengzhou and Kaifeng in the study area is not basically caused by over-exploitation, but due to the local over-exploitation. Based on the present exploitation volume as at year 2006 and future probable exploitation volume, the prediction results show that the groundwater hydraulic head of the warm and the warmer water layers ultimately decreases by 50-100m in the downtown area. Whereas, the hydraulic head of the hot water layer does not exceed 1m. The directions of the groundwater flow changed from horizontal into radial.
