HIGH-THROUGHPUT GENOMIC DNA EXTRACTION FROM BLOOD SAMPLE USING MAGSTATION SYSTEM
Automation of nucleic acid extraction and purification, the most difficult step in automating genetic analysis and gene manipulation, can be realized using functionalized magnetic nanoparticles ( MNPs) and automated workstation. For most automated workstation can not be afforded by small lab, we have developed an integrated automation system for semi-automated genetic analysis. The system, Magstation, is equipped with a magnetic separation unit, a heating block and a 96 - well plate holder. Using this system, we could perform the semi-automated extraction of genomic DNA from peripheral blood. The results indicated that it took 25 min to yield 1. 02 to 1. 66 μg genomic DNA from 96 samples using 50 μL blood sample, and OD260/ OD280 ratio was between 1. 78 and 1. 82.
