ASSOCIATION OF MICRORNA-210 AND EPHREV A3 EXPRESSION WITH RENAL ISCHEMIA/REPERFUSION INJURY IN MICE

MicroRNAs are a group of small non-coding RNAs with modulator activity of gene expressioa Recent studies have uncovered a profound role of microRNAs in renal diseases. This study aimed to investigate a potential relationship between MicroRNA- 210 (miR - 210) expression and renal ischemia/reperfusion injury in mice Quantitative RT-PCR analysis showed that miR - 210 expression levels were greatly up-regulated in the renals after 45 min ischemia followed by 120 min reperfusion when compared to sham controls. Immunohistochemical staining analysis also showed that miRNA targeted RNA, ephrin A3 expression levels were greatly down-regulated compared to sham controls. Thus, we conclude that renal ischemia/reperfusion injury might be another form of renal disease that is associated with alteration in miR - 210 expressioa
