DIRECT VISUALIZATION OF MICRORNAS BASED ON NON-CROSS-LINKING GOLD NANOPARTICLE AGGREGATION

The hybridization between RNAs and oligonucleotide probes immobilized on gold nanoparticles (GNPs) can induce the non-cross-linking GNP aggregation accompanied by red-to-purple (or blue) color changes. This phenomenon is successfully applied to detect microRNAs (miRNAs) and as low as 5 nM miRNA can be detectable.
