A Study of Design Standard and Performance Evaluation on New Metallic Gasket
In this research, as a performance evaluation method on all-metal gasket using the elastic effect which was proposed as asbestos alternative gasket, compared to the qualitative evaluation method of the presence of leak by conventional water pressure test, by helium leak test the presence of leak was evaluated quantitatively. At the same time, the condition that related to contact stress and contact area of gasket to prevent the occurrence of leak was done by FEM (Finite Element Method) analysis. The results show that from quantitative evaluation of helium leak quantity, for this all-metal gasket, by water pressure test that corresponds to JISB2404 as the condition to prevent the leak, the helium leak quantity should be below than 10~(-6) Pa · m~3/sIn addition, from the FEM analysis result, as designing condition for gasket due to the leakage, it could be concluded that the contact area is an important parameter. Furthermore in the future, it is possible to assure the optimization of the particular gasket using the result obtained from the analysis with FEM.
