Are Norilsk deposits site-specific or universal by the origin?

1 IntroductionThe unique Pt-Cu-Ni Norilsk deposits are located on the north Siberian trap province. This area distinguishes oneself by the highest thickness of tuff-lavas (3.7 km) and the composition diversity of basalts (Godlevsky M.N. ,1959; Likhachev A.P., 1994). To understand the genesis of the Norilsk deposits the question should be answered: are the sulfide ores a result of development of a trap magmatic system or had they been formed under specific conditions? The main goals of this study are to determine a place of the Norilsk ore-bearing intrusions in space and time of the magmatic process and to estimate its parental melt composition.
