The mafic-ultra mafic rocks bearing copper-nickel in northern Xinjiang and the Tianshan large igneous provinces

The research shown that the formation time of Kalatongke mafic-ultramafic belt , Huangshan mafic-ultramafic belt and Jingbulake mafic-ultramafic belt are early Permian and late Carboniferous, and that means they formed in the same tectonic setting. Geochemical studies have shown that The material from upper mantle, and was contaminated by crustal materials to varying degrees. The Tianshan rift-related volcanic rocks make up a large igneous province erupted during the Carboniferous-Early Permian period in northwestern China. The volcanic successions comprise thick piles of basaltic lavas and subordinate intermediate and silicic lavas and pyroclastics. The formation of the igneous mega province is related to mantle plume activity(LIP;Xia Linqi et al.,2003,2004).The three belts realt to Tianshan large igneous province in time, and were they the product of the mantle plume ? We conclude with a model that attempts to explain the relation ship between the zoned maic-ultramaic intrusions and mantle plume activity during the Permian in this paper.
