Preparation, Characterization of Nanometer Ce0.7Sn0.3O2 by Sol-Gel Method and Its Catalytic Ozonization Degradation for Methylene Blue

Nanometer Ce0.7Sn0.3O2 powders were prepared by sol-gel method. The prepared sample was characterized by means of X-ray diffraction (XRD), fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy and the pre-prepared sample was characterized by means of differential scanning calorimeter (DSC). A model textile industry pollutant (methylene blue) was used in order to evaluate the catalytic ozonization efficiency of the obtained material. The experimental results show that the obtained Ce0.7Sn0.3O2 possesses structure of mixture of the tetragonal phase and the cubic phase. The nanometer Ce0.7Sn0.3O2 has higher catalytic ozonization activity. The degradation of methylene blue is over 99% at the best conditions of catalytic ozonization after 1h.
