Preparation, Characterization and Photocatalytic Activity of Nano-TiO2 Loaded Coal Fly Ash

The photocatalyst of nano-TiO2 loaded on fly ash were preprared by means of the homogeneous precipitation method. The obtained products were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive spectrum (EDX) and infrared spectroscopy (IR), the results displayed that the anatase was gained and the average size of nano TiO2 particles was 8.7 nm after calcined at 500℃ for 2h. It is believed that anatase displays higher photocatalytic activity than rutile. The nano-TiO2 particles were spheric loaded on the surface of the fly ash. The results from the FTIR showed that the nano-TiO2 particles were dispersed on the surface of the coal fly ash. The preparation technical parameters including mol ration of TiOSO4/ coal fly ash, temperature and radiation time were used to find the optimum photocatalyst by using the methylene blue as the degradation materials. The results showed that the best photocatalytic activity of the products was achieved as the water bath temperature was 80℃ , the molar rate of TiOSO4 and fly ash was 4:2, calciend at 500℃ and irriated for 1.5 h by UV.
