Preparation and Properties of Ni-P /A12O3 Composite Coating Using Electroless Plating on Magnesium Alloy
In this study, nano Al2O3 powder was added in electroless nickel plating solution of nickel sulfate as mainly salt and the nano Ni-P-Al2O3 composite coating deposited on magnesium alloy. The effects of concentration of nano Al2O3 powder, the temperature of electroless plating solution, the pH value and mixing method on deposition rate and the hardness of coating were studied, the best process condition was obtained.The properties of nano Ni-P-Al2O3 electroless composite plating was observed by scanning electronic microscope(SEM), X-ray diffraction(XRD) and hardness test. The results show that nano Al2O3 composite plating can obviously provide protection for magnesium alloy, meanwhile increasing the surface hardness of magnesium alloy. Therefore, it is a valid technology for Ni-P-Al2O3 electroless composite plating to expand the usage of magnesium alloy.
