Research on the Preparation Process of Basic Magnesium Carbonate Particles Coated with Silicon Ozide Film
The technical process coating SiO2 film on the surface of basic magnesium carbonate particles through the nonuniform nucleation method was achieved in the paper. The nucleation mechanism of SiO2 film and control route of the process was also illustrated. The experimental results showed that the SiO2 coating layer can be uniformly formed on the surface of basic magnesium carbonate particles. Their morphologies and granularity have been changed after the coating course took place. The results of differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) showed that the endothermic peak of basic magnesium carbonate coated with SiO2 film shifts to left. The mass loss of decomposition stage under the maximum decomposition temperature (about 433℃), compared to that of the original basic magnesium carbonate particles, decreases about 10% and the effect of granularity of basic magnesium carbonate on its decomposition properties is not significant.
