Particle Size Distribution and Concentration Characterization in Mineral Slurry by Ultrasonic Methods
The particle size distribution and concentration in mineral slurry can be measured by ultrasonic attenuation spectra method and ultrasonic multiple echo reflection method. Based on theoretical analysis and numerical results, measurements of ultrasonic spectrum over a frequency range 3 ~ 6 MHz were carried out at slurry volume fractions from 10% to 50% . Combined with the inverse algorithm, particle size distribution were determined from experimental data. The concentrations were obtained by combining acoustic impendence with ultrasonic multiple echo reflection method. The experimental results of mineral slurry show that the measured concentration and particle size were similar to the known and standard results.
