Research on the Influence of Quartz Sand Particle Size on Artificial Core Preparation
To make up the lack of natural cores, artificial cores are widely used in many research fields, such as in physical simulation experiments in enhanced oil recovery in oilfields. Artificial cores are often prepared in laboratories by changing the proportion of quartz sand with different particle sizes and adding clay minerals to meet the needs of core permeability, porosity and wettability in different core experiments. In this paper, we have studied the technology of artificial core preparation from the aspects of core structure, composition, formula and technology, and have established the relation curve between median size of quartz sand and permeability. We have also analyzed the influence of adding methods of clay minerals on preparing artificial cores with different wettabilities and the influence of particle size ratio of quartz sand, temperature, pressure, time and cement content on core porosity and permeability. Furthermore, we have established the technology of preparing artificial cores under different pressures, temperature and particle size ratio of quartz sand.
