Size Distribution Characterization of Copper Powder Prepared by Slurry Electrolysis
Using copper concentrate as raw material, copper powder which median diameter is 2.72μm, 90% particles are smaller than 2.88μm and 100% particles are smaller than 5.0μm was gained in the slurry electrolysis cell. Various operation parameters including current density, electrolysis temperature, the ratio of liquid to solid and pH were studied. Copper size characteristic which is affected by operation parameters was analyzed. The results show that high current density is propitious to the forming of copper powder, the particle size of copper powder decreases and the specific surface area increases with increasing current density. The optimal electrolysis temperature is 343K. The best ratio of liquid to solid is 30: 1. Low pH value is propitious to the forming of copper powder, the lower the pH value of solution, the smaller the size of copper powder.
