Adsorptive Desulfurization from Jet Fuel over Nano-CaCO3 Prepared by Ion Ezchange

Nano-CaCO3Sr with different Sr loadings were synthesized by liquid-phase ion-exchange methods using Sr(NO3)2 and nano-CaCO3. These Sr-containing nano-CaCO3 were tested as adsorbents for removing organic sulfur compounds from a model jet fuel containing 170 ppmw sulfur and a real 3# jet fuel containing 180 ppmw sulfur under ambient conditions either without reduction or after reduction around 600℃ . The results show as follows: (ⅰ) the method of Sr loading plays an important role, the ionexchanged nano-CaCO3 exhibit a good sulfur adsorption performance, (ⅱ) both reduced and unreduced nano-CaCO3Sr remove sulfur from jet fuels, with the sulfur adsorption performance being 3~4 times higher than unreduced samples.
