Reactivity Study of Co-based Ozygen Carrier for Chemical-looping Combustion

Chemical-looping combustion (CLC) is a new kind of efficient method to separate CO2 from the combustion of fuel gas. At present, most of the research on CLC focused on the development of oxygen carriers. In this paper, the Co-based metal oxide is chosen as reactant and Al2O3 as binder. The comparison research between Co-based metal oxide with Al2O3 and pure Co-based oxygen carrier is being processed from the aspect of the reactivity of reduction and oxidation. The reactivity is investigated by thermogravimetic analyzer (TGA). The results showed that Co-based oxygen carrier generally improved the reactivity after the insertion of Al2O3, the prepared Co-based oxygen carrier showed better reactivity and durability than the no-binder oxygen carrier. It proved to be a better candidate for the development of CLC.
