Refinement and Characterization of Glass Tail-sand

The clay and organic matter as well as dip-dye iron imputities exist in glass tail-sands whose average volume grains are 87. 3μm can be removed effectively by ultrasonic washing process, magmetic separation and acidification method. The results are as follows: Glass tail-sands of 300.0g dealing with ultrasonic washing can imputities of 65.8% , magmetic separation remove imputities of 13.9%, and acidification remove imputities of 3.1% that mainly contains hematite, limonite, ilmenite and goethite. After treatment, the sample has actual output rate of 88.3% , and whiteness of among 88.6-92.1. After refinement, its main components are SiO2 (99.87% ~ 99.89%), Al2O3(0.03% ~ 0.25% ), Fe2O3(0.015% ~0.03% ). The prepared sample can be widly used in the industrial field such as silica brick, silica iron, silica aluminium, electro-porcelain, daily ceramic, glassware and molding sand, etc., which is helpful for recycling and environmental protection.
