Visualization Investigation into Hydrodynamic Behavior of Bubbles in a Two-dimensional Bubbling Fluidized Bed with Coarse Granules
Results from visualization measurement with high-speed photography were secured in a two-dimensional fluidized bed of coarse granules with particle size ranging from 2. 8mm to 7. 0mm. A correlation of minimum fluidization velocity for the bed was derived by data fitting with only 0.4% relative variance. Under three static bed heights of 300mm, 450mm and 600mm, hydrodynamic behaviors of bubbles in the bed indicated that bubble velocities increased with fluidization number increasing. The effect of static bed height on the velocity of bubbles rising was insignificant, whereas for a given static bed height bubbles rising velocities increased significantly with increasing fluidization number. Keeps static bed height constant, diameter of bubbles grew rapidly with fluidization number increasing. The bed slugging, at the static bed height of 300mm, 450mm and 600mm, were recorded for fluidization number exceeding 1.83, 1.64 and 1.28, respectively.
