CRUSHING BEHAVIORS OF LUMP COAL UNDER AN IMPACT LOAD

Impact crushing is a widely used method for lump coal crushing, a principal way to gain small particles of coal. Crack growth theory was used to analyze the crushing behaviors of lump coal under an impact load in this paper. After derived the functions of crack growth velocity and instantaneous crack length caused by stress waves, a crushing criterion was given to determine whether lump coal was crushed or not under an impact load. Choosing lump coal with different particle sizes to do impact experiment, the result shows that the crushing criterion could make a generally accurate decision about crushing case of lump coal carrying an impact load, so it should be able to provide base for preliminary selection of impact crushing machinery.
