Microstructure and Properties of high Velocity arc-sprayed MMC Coating
Four kinds of particles reinforced metal matrix composites (MMC) coating obtained by high velocity arc spraying and powder wires respectively with FeB, CrB, Al2O3, Cr3C2 were prepared. The microstructure observation and phase analysis were carried out by optical microscopy(OM) and Transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The coatings properties of microhardness, porosity, adhesion strength and erosion rate were measured in room temperature. Results showed that the CrB coating had better erosion resistance than that of the other coatings. The OM results showed that all four coating exhibited typical structure of thermal material which consisted of flat lamellas, thin oxide layer and small round porosity. The color, size and shape of the lamella and oxide were slightly different. TEM results indicated that the phases within the lamella were mainly composed of a phase, amorphous phase and other nanosized particle phase of Fe23(C,B)6, Cr23C6 etc. in CrB coating.
