A Study of Aluminum Coating on Sintered NdFeB Magnet
NdFeB permanent magnetic materials are nowadays widely used because of their excellent magnetic performance, lower price, and adequate source. Aluminum coating on NdFeB materials is a promising process to improve the corrosion resistance of NdFeB magnets. In this paper, aluminum films were deposited successfully on the surface of N45 sintered NdFeB magnet by DC magnetron sputtering. The samples have also undergone a vacuum heat treatment at a temperature of 800℃ for 6 hours, the study of the effect of heat treatment to aluminum layer structure is carried out After the heat treatment, the inter-diffusion phenomenon occurs in the components on both sides of the interface in the original sample, and a layer of NdPr-rich diffusion layer between the original Al films and the substrate, which is about 40μm thick.
