Research of Producing Titanium Powder by Calciothermic-reduction Process from Titanium Diozide

In this paper, thermodynamic analysis on calciothermic-reduction of titanium dioxide to produce titanium was carried out Based on the thermodynamic analysis, a new extraction process of vacuum reduction-impurity acid leaching for titanium powders from titanium dioxide was investigated. The results indicated that it is feasible to produce titanium by calciothermic-reduction process from titanium dioxide on thermodynamics and the reaction is exothermic and gas-solid reaction under the experimental conditions. On the conditions of 10 ~ 30 Pa and 1000 ~ 1400℃, the metal calcium is a good reductant and titanium powders can be produced from titanium dioxide.
