A Game Theory Model of Firms Product Quality Selection under Asymmetric Information
Asymmetric information between consumers and firms on product quality not only affect the consumers decision-making process, but also the quality decision-making of firms. In this paper, game theory and information econo mics tools are used to deal with the firms and consumers product quality selection under asymmetric information. The research indicates that high-quality firms can transmit quality informat ion through multi-signal transmission, and there is always a separating equilibrium. Based on the consumers utility function on product quality, if consumers are mo re inclined to search for information about product quality, more firms will strive to improve the quality of products, consumers choice will affect firms product quality decision -making action.
