Innovative Applications of Bamboo in Product Design
Bamboo is a kind of material that grows the fastest. It is recyclable and degradable that meets the requirement of environment protection. Its great advantages in bending resistance, hardness and water resistance make it more popular than such materials as plastic and metal in product design nowadays. Bamboo still has some weaknesses, like uneven material propert ies, rough texture and modeling difficulty. However, as deeper understanding of the material propert ies and the development of processing technic, these weaknesses can be avoided, and it can be used in different areas of product design according to its properties. In the situation that the resources are running out and the environment is getting worse, bamboo will surely become an important material in innovative product design.
