An Empirical Study of City’s Innovation Capability Based on the Establishment of an Evaluation Indez System

摘要：

A city usually serves as the main carrier of a countrys innovation capability. The paper designs a six-dimensional evaluation index system, which includes innovation capability in knowledge, technology, industry, management, service and environment. An empirical study is conducted by using principal component analysis to study the innovation capacity of six major cities in China. Results show that Beijing enjoys the highest level of overall innovation capability,followed by Shanghai, Tianjin, Wuhan and Chongqing respectively.
