Evaluation of Highway Transportation Efficiency in Wuhan Urban Circle Based on DEA

With the speeding up of the construction in Wuhan Urban Circle (WUC), improving the efficiency of the highway transportation becomes more and more important. In this paper, We applies the C2R model of data envelopment analysis (DEA) to evaluate the highway transportation efficiency of WUCs 9 cit ies in 2006, and uses the SPSS software to clustering analyze the 9 cit ies. And then further uses DEA cross-evaluation method to order all cit ies. The result shows that the WUCs highway transportation efficiency is relat ively high as a whole; and the DEA ineffective cities all exist input redundancy and output deficiency problem, except Xianning the other cities all represent scales merit increasing. According to the evaluation and analysis, we make proposals and take measures on improving the efficiency.
