Effects of Organizational Political behavior on Individual Promotion
This article analyzes six dimensions of political behavior in Chinese companies, including: ingratiation, create good individual image, self -promotion, allies, bargaining, blame or downplay others profile. We hypothesize that every dimension of polit ical behavior has positive relat ionship to individuals promotion. Data are collected from a matched sample of 600 white-collar employees and their supervisors. Results indicate that different dimension of polit ical behaviors have different effects on individuals promotion. A mong six dimensions there are 4 play positive roles to individual promotion in career with ingratiat ion ranked no. 1. These findings demonstrate that the extent to which an individual engages in political behavior may have been a key component to receiving promotion. Finally, main conclusions and areas of future research are provided.
