Joint Determination of Process Mean, Production Run Size and Material Order Quantity with Rework Process
Selection of the process mean for a container-filling process is important in quality control especially when material cost is a significant portion of production cost. But there are few researches considering the process mean problem using an integrated model with rework option. In this paper, we incorporate the issues associated with rework cost, production setup and raw material procurement into the classical process mean problem for a single-product production process. It is assumed that filled cans are weighed and underfilled cans will be reworked at the expense of rework cost. A two-echelon model is formulated, and an efficient algorithm is put forward to find the optimal solution.
