The Methods of Defining the Setting Elements for Cultural Routes

Cultural routes is the ma jor topic of a new d irect ion in conversation of cultural heritages, but the specific method of protecting cultural routes has not studied in a in-depth way. This paper introduces the definition, characteristics and contents of cultural routes, as well as the importance of the setting elements for cultural routes, and analyses the important setting in cultural routes that has been added to the World Heritage List in order to summarize the main factors of defining setting elements. On the basis of that, we list some important settings of the existing cultural routes in China. The methods are of significance to establish protective measures and implementation of applying to world cultural heritage.
