Maintaining Database Consistency and Integrity in HIS with Transactions

It is very important in HIS (Hospital Information System) to maintain the consistency and integrity of information. A transaction is a group of actions that must all be carried out successfully on one or more tables in a database before they are committed (made permanent). If any of the actions in the group fails, then all actions are rolled back (undone). In this paper, how to use transactions in Delphi in latent and apparent way is discussed in detail. Furthermore, a demonstration is given to show a method of using transactions in Delphi to guarantee the prescriptions being stored to the database or transmitted to another departments in intactness . This method could also be used to maintain database consistency and integrity when there is need for modifications to the data stored in the database.
