Application of Direct Reading Ferrography to Aero-engine Wear Condition monitoring

The metal magnetic wear particles in the lubricating oil can be analyzed by ferrography which include of analytical ferrography and direct reading ferrography. Qualitative analysis can be conducted by analytical ferrography, and quantitative analysis by direct reading ferrography. So the wear condition can be monitored, and the fault be diagnosed. In this paper, direct reading ferrograph type of ZTP-X2 was used to monitor a certain type of aero-engine lubricating oil. In accordance with the basic principles of probability theory, the monitoring data were analyzed by software called origin, and the monitoring and diagnostic criteria were put forward. Practices have proved that the criteria can be used in aero-engine wear condition monitoring and fault diagnosis with good effect.
