Research on the Penetration Aftereffect of Steel Shell PELE by Testing Fragment
It is very important that researching the rule among aftereffect of PELE after penetrating target, impact velocity and target thickness, especially for deeply searching the mechanism of PELE and enhancing its damage efficiency. In this experiment, 35GrMnSiA and Nylon were respectively adopted as the shell and the core of PELE for the first time, the projectiles vertically impacted armor plates with different thickness and different velocity. Experiment results indicate that this kind of PELE can penetrate these armor plates and achieve burst, the diameter of perforation is about 1.5 times of the projectile. The aftereffect is the best when the PELE penetrates 15 mm armor plate. It is proved that impact velocity affects the number of perforation on aluminum plates more than the angle of splashing fragment, and enhancing impact velocity is propitious to increase the number of shell fragment. These conclusions may offer some important reference and gist for intending research on PELE made of else material.
