Design and Implementation of a Compact PassengersCounting System for Running Bus

A compact digital signal processing system designed for real-time counting passengers (i.e., get-on and get-off) on a running bus is proposed, in which a non-contact signal processing method with Hall integrated sensor, assembled on the top of the footplate at passenger door, has been applied. The system consists of three parts, i.e., a signal processing board and data collecting footplate, a package of counting program and some components used for assembling the essential sensors. The developed system has been passed the practical test with a serial sampling on some running buses by Shanghai Modern Communication Development Ltd. Company and it is verified that the proposed system is feasible and practical in bus passengers flow counting.
