Nondestructive Vibration Testing for Cavity of Cement Concrete Pavement
Concrete slabs would be vibrated under transient impact force. Its vibration frequency is correlative with factors of supporting condition, cavity degree etc. Aiming at this problem, the modal analysis of the cement concrete slab was conducted using the Finite Element Analysis software ANSYS. The relationship between cavity state and vibration frequency was determined by discussion on vibration characteristics of the concrete slab in different conditions, which provides theoretical basis for cavity testing in engineering practice. According to the analysis of testing results of actual engineering and theoretical calculation, results showed the following facts. Under the transient impact force, the free vibration of pavement slab with serious cavity appear as low frequency vibration, while the free vibration of pavement slab appear as high freque1ncy vibration as the foundation beneath pavement slab is adequate to provide the steady support. The conclusion would provide scientific basis for cavity testing of cement concrete pavement slab.
