Detection and Diagnosis for Crankshaft Torsional Oscillation
To guarantee reliable operation through -out the working process, detection and diagnosis for diesel engines is very important. This paper studies on the burning and the capability of crankshaft torsional oscillation. To establish the instantaneous angular speed waveform, the shaft speed measurement signal has been used. A new describing method based on the polar coordinate system of the instantaneous angular speed signal has been introduced. It can improve the discrimin -ation features of the faults compare with the fast Fourier transform analysis. The paper studies on 12-cylinder engines by a typical experimental method and the detection and diagnosis results by the proposed polar presentation method are given. The results were also compared with the fast Fourier transform analysis of the instantaneous angular speed signal.
