The generation of infrared cloud images
This Paper generated IR images of cloud based on fractal technology. The infrared model of cloud is constructed according to the viewpoint, and each radiance component (self-emitting radiance, reflected sun and sea radiation, transmitted radiance, etc.) is computed separately and summed with the other radiance components. Reflectivity, transmittance and absorptivity of each cloud type are computed as function of the solar zenith angle and cloud liquid water/ice content. To simulate infrared image of the cloud, a 2-D data field is generated by fractal method and projected to a cloud depth field. Then the radiance field of the cloud is calculated based on the theory model. At last the radiance field is converted to a grey image and visualized.
