Measurement and Navigation from Panoramas Based on Linear CCD
The paper concentrates on how to measure and navigate by a panoramic system based on linear CCD, fisheye lens and turntable. We have completed the design and development of this system named PanoExpert V1, which can capture the full surrounding view in one scan not only 360° horizontally but also 180° vertically. Firstly, PanoExpert V1 is introduced briefly. And as a significant aspect of system development, a simple and fast method to calibrate the optical center of fisheye lens is presented. Then, we use a unique algorithm based on this exceptional system and automatic matching of homonymy points to realize accurate distance measurement. Experiments show the feasibility of the method. Finally, we work on the free and real-time navigation in the panorama, to help user get more details of scene in interactive mode.
