Method for Geometric Shape Detection Using Feature Points

In this paper, we presented a geometric shape detection method using a group of feature points(FP). The extracted edges are fitted with Polygon and the fitted polygons are normalized to extract the invariant geometric features of translation, rotation and scale transform. We calculated the parameters of geometric features and compared it with the pretreated parameters of shape feature and identified the type of shape. The theoretical analysis and experiments both show that the method is efficient and simple, and gains desirable matching results.
