Study of Acoustic Velocity Measurement in Seawater by Using Chirp Signals
The analysis and design of an underwater acoustic velocimeter employing a linear frequency modulation technique is presented. The system operational fundamentals and the structural design are introduced. The methods of transmitting signal generating, the sound velocity calculating and the calibration of sound path distance are presented. It is shown that such an instrument achieves high measurement precision and resolution and is believed to be relatively immune to the noise in the medium.
