Analysis and Simulation of Time-delay Estimation Methods and SNR Threshold for the Tank Acoustic Signal

Time delay is a key technique of target localization on battlefield. On the basis of the weighting principles of the generalized cross-correlation, making use of experimental data of tank, simulation and performance analysis of these time-delay estimation algorithms were made, on the other hand, the SNR thresholds of normal cross-correlation and weighting cross-correlation algorithms were obtained by computer simulation. The result show that the smoothed coherence transform(SCOT) method takes on high resolution of cross-correlation peak, the lowest SNR threshold, lesser computation quantity and stronger capability of restraining periodic component interfused in tested signal. The research results provide evidence for selecting time-delay estimation method in engineering application.
