Design of a Magnetic Azimuth Measurement System
To overcome the shortcomings such as high cost and simple low-level interface existed in current design of digital compass, a new compass design with Honeywells magnetoresistive sensors and a MEMS accelerometer is proposed. Microcontroller C8051F350 is adopted to complete A/D conversion, azimuth computation and digital azimuth output. A USB port is designed for easy system interface. Aiming at rejecting measurement errors caused by magnetic field disturbance in the environment, compass error compensation arithmetic is deduced and used to improve the azimuth detection accuracy.
