Preparation and characterization of strong superparamagnetic nanocomposites

The Fe3O4 magnetic fluid was prepared by the chemical method in aqueous solution at room temperature1. To obtain inorganic nonoparticle with higher saturation magnetization, we used homogenous precipitation method to synthesize La/Ce/Ni doped Fe3O4 particles. The crystal structure, particle morphology, element components were characterized with X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM ) and inductively-coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometer (ICPAES), and the magnetic properties were evaluated on a vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM).Then the effects of the species of rare earth on magnetic responsibility were discussed. The specific saturation magnetization of La/Ce/Ni doped Fe3O4 was higher considerably than that of pure Fe3O4. La/Ce/Ni doped Fe3O4 particles are superparamagnetic.
