An Astigmatic Method For Real—Time Measurement Of Laser Beam

In this paper we introduced a new laser beam analyzer system. It is a camera-based beam profiling system with USB 2.0 connectivity, operating under software in Microsoft Windows, which includes Vista. It provides highly accurate measurements of beam profile parameters, including beam diameter, centroid, power and energy. The USB 2.0 interface offers enhancement for ease use and portability. We mainly introduced the measuring system in this instrument which we used a newly measuring method——the astigmatic method. In this measuring system we use a quadrant detector measures the astigmation caused by the deviation of the target to the focus point and error signal which composed of the outputs of the quadrant detector and indicates the amount of the deviation. With reference to the calibrated linear correlation between the deviation and the focus error signal, the deviation or the amplitude of vibration can be obtained. The results show that the measurement precision can be greatly improved.
