Optimization for Gear Parameters of Gatling Gun Based on Genetic Algorithm

The gear driving system of the automatic mechanism is one of the most important devices of the gatling gun. The design and optimization of the gear parameters can observably influenced the battle performance of the gatling gun. This paper takes the total volume of a pair of driving gears as the object function (the smaller of its numerical value is, the better), and takes tooth amount, modulus, tooth breadth, contact fatigue intensity of tooth surface as well as dedendum bend fatigue intensity as constraint conditions. Optimization for gear parameters of gatling gun is carried out by genetic algorithm such as selection, crossover and mutation. Comparing the optimization results of the parameters among that are not optimized, that are optimized by routine method and by using genetic algorithm, it shows that a better optimization results can be got using genetic algorithm.
