Simulation of Electrostatic Vibration Generator Based on Micro-Droplet Dielectric

For the urgent need of micro power sources of wireless sensors and wireless sensor networks, implantable sensor systems, portable personal electronic devices and so on, a micro electrostatic vibration generator by using a micro-droplet dielectric in the electrostatic field, produced by electret, in the sport to overcome the electrostatic force has been analyzed in this paper. It can convert the environmental low-frequency micro-vibration to electrical energy. With the pre-designed structure of the micro-generator, the modeling and simulation was carried out by COMSOL Multiphysics v3.4 software. We have carried out the simulations of the micro-generator such as electret electric field distribution, the response of the micro-droplet under dynamic acceleration outside in the electrostatic field and charge distribution. The result verified the working principle and feasibility of the power generator. Its working frequency is about 9.5Hz and the theoretical maximum output voltage is about 3V.
