Dynamic Properties and Nondestructive Testing of Finger Joint Poplar Lumber

In this study, dynamic Youngs modulus of poplar lumber and finger joint poplar lumber were measured by longitudinal transmission, longitudinal vibration,flexural vibration test. The paper analyzed the variability of the dynamic Youngs modulus obtained with different nondestructive testing methods, and investigated the stability of different nondestructive testing methods. This paper investigated the correlativity among the dynamic Youngs modulus obtained by different dynamic tests. The effect of finger joint on the dynamic Youngs modulus was also investigated. The study indicated that nondestructive testing methods could be applied in the actual mechanics performance measurement of finger joint poplar lumber.
