Characteristic Analysis of Eztrinsic Optical Fiber Fabry-Perot Pressure Sensor
We have designed an optical fiber pressure sensor based on extrinsic Fabry-Perot interferometer. The basic operation principle and structure of the sensor are discussed. The characteristic of intensity loss of the sensor has been studied. And then, we have presented the relationship between loss coefficient and the length of the cavity. Temperature and pressure always bring cross-sensitivity to the sensor probe because they all bring changes to the cavity length. The impact of temperature to a fiber Fabry-Perot cavity length was analyzed. For a partly reflection-type Fabry-Perot sensor, the other end face of the reflection-fiber, which is out of the cavity, must be properly handled to reduce the interference noise. These results discussed above will provide effective data supporting for the sensor applications.
