The Design of Vibrating Tube Ice Detector for High Voltage Transmission Conductor
In order to achieve the auto-detecting of the icing on the high voltage transmission conductor under complex environment, an icing detecting method based on the vibration principle was presented in this paper. The tube is made of a special metal alloy in which the atoms actually elongate when subjected to a magnetic field, the tube is subjected to an oscillating electromagnetic field, and special circuits determine the natural resonant frequency of the tube, which depends on the amount of ice mass accumulated on the probe. The physical model of vibrating tube ice detector was established. The finite element method was used to analyze the vibration models and frequencies of the vibration tube in ice detecting sensor. The numerical analysis and test have demonstrated the correctness of the vibrating tube ice detecting sensor design method.
